With this rollout, Veterans no longer need to wait seven to ten days for paper mail or repeatedly check the Claim Status Tool. Instead, they’ll receive timely alerts through VA Notify, directing them to view decision letters on VA.gov or the VA Health and Benefits mobile app. The Decision Letter Availability Notification feature is now fully in production—a big step forward in modernizing how Veterans access critical benefits information.

This work supports Section 807 of the PACT Act and aligns with proposed rule AR77, which enables electronic notifications in place of paper delivery for claims and appeals decisions. It also improves accessibility, particularly for blind and low-vision Veterans, by providing a faster and more independent way to access critical benefits information.
