Honoring Military Families with an ROTC Scholarship

May 26, 2025

At IronArch, servant leadership is not only a business value but a personal philosophy.

As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing technology modernization and digital services to federal government agencies, our mission to serve the nation is rooted in the life experiences of our founder and CEO, Joe Punaro. A decorated combat veteran and successful entrepreneur, Joe brings more than a knack for leadership to IronArch—he brings a passion for giving back to the military community that shaped him.

Beyond IronArch’s work with the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Joe is making a difference for military and veteran communities by directly providing opportunities that empower the next generation of service-minded leaders.

Supporting Future Marine Corps Leaders with an Annual ROTC Scholarship

Each year, IronArch provides a scholarship for an ROTC student at the University of Idaho/Washington State University NROTC program. This scholarship is awarded to a promising future Marine officer who demonstrates outstanding leadership, academic achievement, and a love for the outdoors. These qualities exemplify the passions and contributions of 1st Lt. Alexander E. Wetherbee (USMC), in whose memory the scholarship is named.

1st Lt. Wetherbee gave his life in service during combat operations alongside me in Iraq. He was the kind of Marine officer who led with courage and conviction, always putting his Marines first—even if it meant challenging others to do what was right for his men. A passionate outdoorsman and leader, his legacy lives on through this scholarship and helps prepare future officers to carry on the values he embodied,” says Joe.

By supporting this award, Joe honors the sacrifice of fallen heroes while investing in future leaders who will protect and serve our nation with courageous integrity.

A Legacy of Service and Support

Through this initiative and others, Joe continues to live out the IronArch mission—serving others, building a legacy of leadership, and ensuring military families and combat veterans are duly recognized and supported through both our support of VA programs like Resilient Improvements to Systems & Experience (RISE) and VA.gov Transition Experience and through intentional corporate giving. At IronArch, we invest in the success of today’s military heroes while empowering the next generation of veterans and service-minded leaders to thrive.
